The Universal Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (UJPSR) was established in 2015 with the aim of bringing together scholars, researchers, academicians, and professionals from diverse areas of pharmaceutical sciences on a common academic platform. The journal was founded with the vision of strengthening the pharmacy profession and promoting high-quality research, innovation, and scientific advancement in pharmaceutical sciences.
UJPSR is a quarterly,peer-reviewed journal that publishes original and significant research contributions in the broad field of pharmaceutical sciences. The journal gives priority to manuscripts that demonstrate scientific originality, relevance, methodological strength, academic importance, and meaningful conclusions. By publishing quality research, reviews, and scholarly discussions, UJPSR serves as a platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge among researchers, academicians, students, and professionals in the national and international pharmaceutical community.
About the Society
The Universal Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (UJPSR) is published under the academic support of Himalayan Pharmacy Institute (HPI), which is managed by the Rhenock Educational Society.
The Himalayan Pharmacy Institute (HPI) is a pioneering institution in the field of pharmacy education in the State of Sikkim. The institute is located at Majhitar, along National Highway 10, approximately 4 km from Rangpo, the border town between West Bengal and Sikkim, and about 70 km from Siliguri, West Bengal. Majhitar is also situated around 36 km from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.
The institute initially gained recognition for its Diploma in Pharmacy programme. Owing to its academic growth and increasing popularity, the four-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) programme was introduced in 1997. In 2000, the institute was shifted to its present campus at Majhitar, and the first batch of B. Pharm students graduated from the new campus in 2001.
HPI continued to expand its academic offerings and achieved another milestone in 2005 with the introduction of the Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) programme in Pharmaceutics. This was followed by postgraduate programmes in Pharmacognosy in 2007, Pharmacology in 2008, and Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance in 2012.
Himalayan Pharmacy Institute is approved by the Government of Sikkim, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and is affiliated with Sikkim University. The institute is also accredited by QSI; ISO 9001:2008 and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
The Governing Body of HPI consists of eleven members, including nominees from the Government, AICTE, and the University, along with the Director, Principal, and faculty members of the institute. The institute also has a teachers' council comprising all teaching staff, which actively supports the monitoring and development of academic and administrative activities.
In addition to well-equipped practical laboratories, HPI has an air-conditioned instrumentation facility with advanced instruments and research equipment, including real-time PCR, Gel Dock, pre-clinical ECG recording machine, UV spectrophotometer, Western blot set up, FTIR, HPLC, U-HPLC, GC, HPTLC, AAS, TGA, DSC, PCR, Nano Zeta Sizer, Flash Purification System, COâ‚‚ Incubator, Langendorff Heart Perfusion System, Auto Analyser, Particle Size Analyser, Microwave Synthesizer, QSAR software, Bilayer Rotary Tablet Machine, and other sophisticated facilities.
Through its academic infrastructure, experienced faculty, research facilities, and commitment to pharmaceutical education, Himalayan Pharmacy Institute continues to contribute significantly to pharmacy education, research, and professional development in the region.
